Can Massages Cure My Aching Back?

The idea of having a soothing massage sounds great! Someone gently massaging your back while you are comfortable lying in a warm dimly light room with maybe some soft music can be a wonderful relaxing experience. But can massage therapy really cure my back pain? The answer is maybe.

Massage therapy can work wonders for people with back pain. But It may not always be the best choice, and it may not work for everyone. Below are some things to consider when deciding if massage therapy is right for you.

1. Before beginning a massage therapy make sure your doctor has approve it. Most doctors will agree to massage providing the massage therapist is specifically trained to treat back problems and if you problem is a simple muscular conditon and not a more serious situation.

2. Massage therapy works best if the cause of your aching back is damage to soft tissue (Muscle pull). More serious problems like a herniated disc will not respond well may respond well to massage and good even be harmful.

3. Make sure the massage therapist  has a good understanding of the human body, muscle imbalances, and how to work with them. If your doctor approves of massage therapy chances are he or she knows of a competent massage specialist.

4. Massage therapy should not be the only treatment option but should be used in conjunction with other treatments ie: physical therapy and medication. Of course it goes without saying that if you experience any pain and or discomfort stop the treatment and contact your doctor.

There is no denying the positive effects massage can have on the body. Most massage therapists use a variety of techniques during a session, such as energy techniques and stretching, along with traditional massage. On it’s own massage therapy is not a cure for a bad back. But when combined with other natural treatment programs and systems can be very beneficial.

One of the top rated programs is called the Lose The Back Pain System developed by therapists and doctors of the Healthy Back Institute. Working with your doctor and combining massage with a proven program such as “Lose The Back Pain” can be a very good way to relieve your back pain and prevent it from returning. The Lose the Back Pain System has helped thousands by strengthening muscles and eliminating muscles imbalance. Muscular imbalance is at the root of most back pain.
