Chronic Disease Health Care Reform

Chronic Disease Health Care Reform According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), chronic diseases are responsible for 7 out of every 10 deaths in the United States – taking the lives of more than 1.7 million Americans every year. Chronic diseases are also the primary driver of health care costs, accounting for more than 75% of the more than $2 trillion dollars spent each year on health care in the United States. Also, a study done by the World Health Organization (WHO) has projected that chronic conditions will become the leading cause of disability across the world by 2020. Learning about and practicing preventive health care, (i.e. maintaining your body and good health throughout your entire lifetime) is the best method to prevent disease from happening at all. Preventive health care should be considered an investment in your retirement ‘nest egg’ years and with good health being a return on your investment. Many costly and disabling conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases are linked by common preventable risk factors. Unfortunately, health care providers and the insurance companies in Western societies do not make the best use of their available resources to support this process. They are reluctant to incorporate preventive and customized programs of treatment for patients. Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom are a few of the European countries that are way ahead of the U.S. in adopting alternative medicine to help bring down skyrocketing health care costs in their countries. Six Step Plan For Chronic Illness Health Care 1. YOU must change and be your own health advocate. Don’t sit back and wait for the government to solve your problems. Take your own preventive measures to stay healthy. 2. Insurance companies must accept “Alternative Medicine” methods of treatment. 3. Doctors need training in “Integrative Medicine” and learn how to treat the body before using drugs. 4. Medical Schools have a “failing grade” because they are not training doctors in nutrition and integrative methods of the treatment of the body without drugs. They should be reformed and distance themselves from the drug companies. 5. The FDA needs to stay out of “non-toxic” treatment of chronic health conditions. There is no reason for them to be involved unless there is a large public out cry of harm being done. The FDA should only be involved in “policing” drug companies and their toxic drugs. 6. Pharmaceutical companies should not be permitted to have such high prices for drugs. Price controls are needed since many of the drug prices are a “rip off” and really only cost the companies a few cents. So you ask, how can the U.S. catch up? By working closely with relevant consumer agencies, the Obama administration could promote healthy lifestyle changes among mainstream Americans. It could dramatically improve the quality of life for American citizens by incorporating the practice of integrative and alternative medicine into public health programs. In turn, this could save the U.S. health care system millions of dollars in what is a terrible costly system. Take the time to learn more about preventive care. Educate yourself and most importantly, start working on your healthy habits today! You won’t regret it!

What is GERD? It Could Be Your Chronic Nighttime Heartburn!

What is GERD? It’s really what happens when the liquid substance held in the stomach “refluxes” or backs up, known medically as regurgitation, into the patient’s esophagus. That liquid, because it contains so much acid and bile, used for digestion, can then damage the lining and inflame the esophagus.

GERD is referred to as a chronic condition, which simply means that once it is begun, a person ordinarily suffers from it for life. The esophagus itself can be healed if any damage is shown, however, each time GERD returns, the chances are greater of more extensive damage to the esophagus.

Medically, it is often debated whether or not those who suffer from GERD could possibly have more of the liquid mentioned above, namely acid. There is a thought that since everyone experiences bouts of indigestion yet do not have damage to their esophagus as those with GERD do, that perhaps it is the very “amount” of acid or even “type” of acid that’s causing the harm.

On the other hand, the amazing human body creates its own “medicine” to take care of this problem by making saliva. Saliva contains bicarbonate, thanks to our salivary glands, which then neutralizes the acid as it is washed down back into the stomach, thus preventing damage once more. This explains why the symptoms are much worse during the night as the person sleeps. While sleeping, the abundance of saliva that’s produced during the day is basically put on hold. Thus, the neutralizing effects of the saliva are also put on hold, and the person exhibits what is GERD.

Many people suffer from GERD. It is thought that perhaps four out of five nighttime heartburn sufferers do! Stopping or lessening heartburn is highly suggested. There are many hints that have evolved through the years that sometimes help.

For example, because acid is one of the compounding problems, limit the about of acidic foods you eat. This includes tomatoes, vinegar, oranges and grapefruits. If chili peppers or even pepper itself causes problems, cut back on those spices. Remain in a standing or sitting position for at least three hours after eating, to give those salivary glands a chance to work for you. Keep in mind that greasy foods encourage heartburn, thus you would be wise to avoid those. Some people have to experiment to find what foods give them heartburn, and then cut back on those. Commonly those might be chocolate, alcohol, caffeine-laden drinks, or catsup and mustard.

Raising the head of your bed by at least six inches can sometimes be of assistance, as does chewing gum in the evenings, which encourages the production of that helpful saliva mentioned above. Above all try to keep your weight down, and drink plenty of water. Remember what your trigger foods are, and do not try to eat them, regardless of how appetizing they may seem.

If you sufferer from chronic nighttime heartburn, please see your physician. The damage you cause left untreated, perhaps could have been avoided by understanding what is GERD.

The Healing Benefits of Fish Oil In Our Body

Did you know that there are healing benefits of fish oil? Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few, and one of the main ones is helping with cardiovascular disease, as a treatment alternative. Cardiovascular disease is a prominent killer in the U.S., typically brought on by chronic inflammation and poor lifestyle choices such as diet, exercise, too much stress, and lack of sleep.

While the causes of cardiovascular disease are still not entirely known, evidence does suggest that a healthy lifestyle lowers the risk of having it. In addition, experts believe that emotional or physical trauma is an important factor for getting it, and that cardiovascular disease victims suffer from frequent abnormal transmission responses to pain.

Insomnia and sleep disorders take their toll in cardiovascular disease patients, and a lack of sleep is one major cause of inflammation and stress on the body. Not only are the healing benefits of fish oil applicable to cardiovascular disease in general, but they also apply to many symptoms that exacerbate the disease. The potential to alleviate both symptoms and the disease itself is a powerful part of fish growing appeal.

For example, fish oil is known to lower triglycerides, improve cholesterol, thin the blood, and even unclog blocked arteries! It truly is like a miracle cure. Of course it won’t be nearly as effective if you don’t enjoy a healthy lifestyle, but the healing benefits of it extend not only to treatment, but also to prevention, of cardiovascular disease.

Take chronic inflammation as a good example. When you have chronic inflammation, you could eventually suffer from a number of dangerous conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, etc. You can also suffer from conditions that lower your quality of life, such as acne and arthritis. The problem with inflammation is that the body is often attacking itself, a condition referred to as an autoimmune disease (attacking oneself).

Fish oil specifically works to counteract not only the inflammation you’re experiencing, but also many of the other causes of these conditions. If you are suffering from heart troubles, you not only can lower your risk by reducing inflammation, but you can also help by alleviating many of the causes, like clogged arteries and high cholesterol. It helps with depression too, by giving the brain more of what it’s made of: DHA (one of the Essential Fatty Acids found in this oil).

Overall, the healing benefits of fish oil are as astounding as they are numerous. For a huge number of conditions, this allows you to either fully recover from them or provide some relief from symptoms. Best of all, over your lifetime, you’re less likely to develop the conditions that claim so many lives. Just make sure that when you go out and get your fish oil, you buy the kind called “pharmaceutical-grade”, which leaves out all of the nasty toxins and contaminants that are commonly found dumped in rivers and oceans. Hopefully you can start enjoying the many healing benefits of fish oil soon!

The Health Benefits of Fish Oil

With the rising cost of healthcare these days, it’s hard to argue with anything that can provide you with better health in a pill that doesn’t come from a prescription drug company. People are rightly paranoid about the side effects of all these drugs, because so many of the drugs that seemed good a few years ago are now being pulled off the market because of dangerous effects.

Research in fish oil has demonstrated that it will improve your quality of life and reduce your risk of chronic lifestyle diseases. That means you can have a better life with a lower risk of becoming dependent on some sort of prescription drug. It isn’t a drug; it’s a supplement. It simply provides your body with something that is essential, and which most people are actually deficient in. Here are some of the many health benefits of fish oil.

Heart Disease

Believe it or not, heart disease and fish oil are commonly linked today. Because heart trouble can be caused by blockages in the arteries, bad cholesterol, and inflammation, fish oil is a perfect supplement to take that can alleviate all of these problems. Studies show that fish oil actually gets rid of blockages and clots because it’s a blood thinner, and if you were in danger of having a heart attack or stroke, the thinned blood would keep you from having one, or reduce the damage from it if you did.

Skin Health

This one might seem farfetched, but it’s not if you understand how the body works. Look at inflammation. When your body detects a foreign invader, it sends white blood cells over to attack. Inflammation is the response from your body when it thinks there’s something to fight off. Unfortunately, sometimes there’s something that you are eating, or somewhere where you’re living, that creates a more permanent level of inflammation, and this is what causes so much chronic disease. If you lower inflammation, you get rid of the need for acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, lesions, and all sorts of other autoimmune skin reactions caused by inflammation. As a result, you’ll have moister, younger-looking skin, and you won’t look as unhealthy because you won’t be as unhealthy.

Brain Function

Another of the major benefits of fish oil is the improvement of your brain function. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to bump up their IQ a few points? In today’s competitive world, having even a slightly higher brain function can be a big boon. Think about it. Fish oil can improve your concentration, memory, reasoning, and focus abilities. That means that you’ll be in a much better position to do a job that requires your whole mind. Your productivity can go up and you’ll owe it to the fact that the oil has an Essential Fatty Acid called DHA, which is what 60% of your brain is made of!

Conclusion

There really are a number of health benefits of fish oil, and the only way for you to experience them firsthand is to go out there and try some pharmaceutical-grade oil yourself!

Got Daily Vitamin Supplements?

There are a lot of factors that cause chronic illness in this country. Bad air, water, and food speeds up the aging process and pollutes our body. One way to equip your self with natural defenses against these destructive forces is to get daily vitamin supplements. Many people ask: “What vitamins do I take?” I’ll show you why daily vitamins are important and what’s the best multi-vitamin.

Our bodies are wonderfully made. We have an immune system that is so complex and so effective that it’s a miracle we stand a chance against common viruses, bacteria, and diseases. Modern medicine is just scratching the surface about the body’s immune system. One thing they all agree upon is the fact that your body needs a complex variety of vitamins and minerals to function properly. If we are deficient in any one of these micronutrients our immune system becomes compromised and we become susceptible to infection and diseases. Some people ask: “Don’t we get all the nutrients we need from the food we eat”?

We do get these nutrients from our food but unfortunately it’s rarely enough. There are immune system boosting foods we can eat that are rich in key micronutrients and especially antioxidants, but it’s still unlikely that you will consume optimal amounts even with a much improved diet.

The bottom line is that the fruits and vegetables available today are depleted of vitamins and minerals due to the over-use of nitrogen fertilizer and the under-use of organic fertilizers. The food looks good and lasts a long time on the shelf, but it is not the same quality of generations past. It’s a good idea to add daily vitamin supplements to your diet.

After a long search for the best multi-vitamin I have found it. It’s pharmaceutical grade and contains all the key ingredients at optimal dosages above and beyond the R.D.A (Recommended Daily Allowance). The best part is that it also contains 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetables, which makes it unlike any other vitamin. It’s a one of a kind and it’s only available to health care professionals.

I have partnered with Douglas Labs to make available their best multi-vitamin. See for yourself why I personally buy Daily Vitamin Supplements for myself and my whole family. You can too.
