I for so many years, I know that migraine relief can seem impossible to find. Pain is the only obsessive, and missing from your life because you are hurting is neither no fun.
I missed the wedding of good friends. I have lost much of the holiday is at the hotel room, in pain. And I had friends to go home with my car, I was thrown onto a take-out container. (I decided to ignore the initial symptoms of migraine and I go for lunch with a friend visiting from out of town. I do not think any of us enjoyed this visit very much!)

Act immediately.
When you notice an oncoming migraine, to halt and take action immediately. The faster you react, the more effective it is. Quick action can reduce the severity and duration of migraine.
Never try to “hard out” with migraine. Not only you can make the pain worse, but you may end up stuck somewhere, may lead back because of pain and nausea.
Shut down, cool off and go for dark and quiet place.
Stop what you’re doing and find a quiet place to lie down and rest. Own bedroom, you are often better, but if you’re away from home, a hotel room or place friend can work. Turn the air conditioning down to cool down, darkening the room or cover your eyes and turn off anything making noise.
Migraines can feel like a “sensory overload” – sounds, lights, all the smells cause more pain. By engaging in a cool, dark and quiet environment to minimize the number of things that can irritate your senses.
Cool Your Head
I like to put a pack of ice on the back of my neck, the base of my skull. You can also cool down with cold wraps (or slightly frozen, wet towels) placed around the head and eyes. Sometimes even a cool, damp cloth over your eyes helps (and blocks light).

So, literally trying to stop thinking. (This may be easier for people who meditate regularly when not experiencing a migraine.) Quiet my mind I say “shush” and I imagine every thought as bubble. I let the balloon go, floating through my head, not after the paragraph.
Focusing on your breathing can help distract you from your thoughts. Deep breath in a stable measurement. Breathe slowly and count, while four, hold for count of four, exhale for a count of eight, hold for count of four, then repeat.
Sleep it off.
For me, these are all trying to get to sleep. I try to bring it even possible, quiet my mind, my body relax, breathe deeply … and desperately hope to be able to sleep. Sleep appears to act as a huge “Reset” to me, and I almost always feel much better after a long nap.
