Aptamil Creates More Support for Pregnant Women and New Mums

(PRWeb UK) May 17, 2010

The use of pregnancy and baby websites has grown phenomenally within the last decade, as studies show mums are turning to the internet more and more for information related to their baby?s development. Recent research? identified that 84% of UK mothers are online and that the average British mum uses the internet as her main source of information?. Indeed Aptamil?s own website is evidence of this, receiving over 60,000 visits per month.

The re-launch sees over 230 articles added to the site to help mums with all types of questions about

being pregnant and when faced with a new baby or toddler. Content on the homepage is tailored to mum?s stage of pregnancy or the age of her baby based on their due date, and information updates automatically every time they revisit to reflect their baby?s development.

Michaela Page, Brand Manager for Aptamil CRM said ?Pregnancy and having a baby are exciting but worrying times. We recognised that mums need to be able to get the best information that?s relevant for their stage, and easily.?

Topics centre on nutrition in pregnancy and baby feeding but also include general pregnancy information and an entirely new section on weaning and toddlerhood. This reflects the brand?s expertise in toddler nutrition with their Growing Up Milk? and their recent move into baby cereals too. Articles include:

A healthy pregnancy diet
Vitamins and supplements in pregnancy
Labour and birth
Breastfeeding; and
Baby feeding problems and allergies.

A survey in 2009? found that mums lack confidence in child nutrition and health, but Aptamil aims to inform mums more than ever before. The baby feeding brand?s existing users already see that expertise. In a survey, nearly 80% of members agreed that Aptamil are the experts in baby and toddler nutrition, something which is demonstrated in all of their communications with mums signed up to the Aptamil baby club (abc).

The club itself has seen a refresh too, with new mailings being sent to postal subscribers (including coupons and samples) and email updates now containing even more pregnancy and post birth stage related information than ever.

In the future, Aptamil also have plans to launch digital coupons where members can download vouchers online and video ?how-to-guides? about topics such as breastfeeding and weaning.

Some of the favourite features of the old website have also been retained. With Aptamil?s members scoring their forums on average 8.2 out of 10 and research? showing 27% of mums visit social networking sites, the redesign has kept this important social interaction in place. The mums? forums has been extended to incorporate the move into toddlerhood by having a new specialist toddler forum section.

For those looking for more expert advice, the Aptamil Careline team made up of midwives, healthcare professionals, feeding advisors and mums are still on hand to give one-to-one advice. The Careline are ready to answer individual questions via email, over the phone or through the instant messaging Live Chat service. Mums can ask questions on pregnancy or any worries they may have about their babies or toddlers, safe in the knowledge that the answer will be both expert and caring.

Ruth Tayt, pregnancy advisor, nurse and ex-midwife on the Aptamil Careline said ?It?s fantastic being able

to support mums through Aptamil. Information online is one thing, but we find that having a personal touch and chatting through specific concerns, goes that little bit extra in terms of reassuring them.?

Aptamil?s new website is already proving to be a success: ?The reaction has been great? says Michaela Page, ?the existing members like the new format and we?re seeing new mums interacting with the website and the Careline every day. Hopefully, we can help even more mums become confident with pregnancy nutrition or baby and toddler feeding in the future and really deliver on helping mums give their babies a healthy start in life.?

Aptamil have been pioneering research into infant nutrition for over 50 years, and throughout this time they?ve gained a level of knowledge and expertise they?re proud to share. With around 300 scientists worldwide who are dedicated to research in infant nutrition, as well as a team of nutritionists, midwives and other healthcare professionals here in the UK, they?re committed to providing the best support for babies and toddlers.

For more information or to check out the new website, visit http://www.aptamil.co.uk, or get in touch with the Careline team for personal advice about your pregnancy or baby on 08457 623 628, Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm.

Women and Joint Healthcare

Studies have shown that women experience more joint pain than men and in more areas of the body than men do. It is said that this is because women generally have less cartilage in their joints than men do. Another reason that women may experience more joint pain than men is because the breakdown of cartilage happens faster in women than in men.

Estrogen Offers Joint Support

Female hormones are believed to heighten a woman’s vulnerability to pain. Hormone fluctuations in the lifespan of a woman may give rise to joint pain and a greater need for joint support than men. It is important that women consider taking daily nutritional support through joint supplements.

Estrogen, a female hormone, is known to have joint supporting cartilage-protective properties. This is why women tend to experience joint pain after menopause when estrogen levels go down. It is also the reason why some women experience joint pain at the onset of menstruation when estrogen levels plummet. Joint supplements that contain glucosamine, taken regularly, can help alleviate the internal effects of hormonal fluctuations on joint health.

During maternity, estrogen levels peak and then drop in the post-partum phase which is when women most women experience joint pain. A joint support care program is essential during this phase. You will need to consult with your physician whether joint supplements may be taken during pregnancy and lactation.

Women Experience More Pain

There is a theory that explains why women are apt to experience more pain than men. Women, it appears, produce less endorphins than men. Endorphins are hormones that are known to be the body’s natural painkillers. If the production of endorphins is less it will result in experiencing more pain. Another cause suggests that women are more limber and loose-jointed than men and therefore incur more friction in the joints which accelerates joint degeneration. Joint supplements that contain well-researched ingredients such as boswellin and white willow bark can help to alleviate pain and inflammation often associated with joint pain.

Joint Care and Joint Supplements

Weight management is a major proponent for joint support. Maintaining a healthy weight will ease the pressure, especially on weight-bearing joints such as the knees, hips and ankles. Try to incorporate at least 30 minutes of exercise five days a week and keep to a healthy diet. In addition, you may want to try joint supplements. Look for ingredients which have scientific support for promoting joint health and are known for their efficacy and safety.

A doctor-approved joint supplement like GoFlex comes with a topical cream that contains an Food and Drug Administration-approved ingredient called capsaicin. Topically applied, capsaicin is very effective as a fast pain reliever. Together with joint health supplement that nutritionally nourish your joints, these are every woman’s assets to enjoying a longer, healthier and safer joint support system.

GoFlex is a scientifically-based, physician-approved joint health supplement containing herbal and natural nutrients that specifically support vital joint functions for maintaining mobility and flexibility. GoFlex includes a joint health supplement and joint pain relief cream containing an Food and Drug Association-approved ingredient for fast-acting joint pain relief.

4 Good Reasons to Discover DHA Supplements

Before you buy DHA supplements, take a little time to learn about the different ones on the market. There might be better choices. It really depends on why you are interested in supplementation.

For the Brain

In studies concerning depression, a combination of Docosahexaenoic acid and Eicosapentaenoic acid was shown to be more effective than either of the omega-3s, alone. In the studies that focused on attention deficit disorders in children, fish oil was given. Fish oil contains several different omega-3 fatty acids, as well as other fats. The content varies. So, it is important to read the label, carefully, before you buy.

DHA supplements derived from marine algae do not have the same complex nature that is found in natural fish oils. There is reason to believe, as you’ll read about later in this article, that there is more to the health benefits of fish oil than the omega-3 content, alone.

For the Heart

DHA supplements have proven to be more effective in lowering total blood triglycerides and at improving the blood’s HDL (good) cholesterol concentration. So, for that benefit, any of the supplements on the market will do. But, in order to see a marked reduction in triglycerides, you would need to take about 3000mg per day. The average supplement on the market contains only about 200mg. The better fish oils contain about 280mg. So, you can see that it is unfeasible to take 3000mg of DHA alone every day.

For the Baby

Pregnant and nursing women need more omega-3s than the average person. Exactly how much has yet to be firmly established, but some doctors recommend a minimum of 500mg per day.

You would need a good fish oil supplement to get that much in two capsules. Otherwise, you would need to take more and more might not be a good idea. The safety of high doses of fish oil or high doses of other DHA supplements has yet to be verified.

For Your Joints

For your joints and for the rest of your body, the main benefit of the supplement is due to the anti-inflammatory activity. There has been some debate about whether there is any “real” anti-inflammatory activity or if the benefits are due solely to modulating inflammation; preventing it from getting worse, you might say.

A recent study should put the debate to rest. A regular fish oil supplement was shown to have about half the anti-inflammatory activity of aspirin.

A concentrated supplement was shown to have a little more anti-inflammatory activity, but surprisingly, to researchers, a supplement that contained a combination of the concentrated ester and the natural triglycerides had the most anti-inflammatory activity, even though the omega-3 content was lower.

Omega 3 And Pregnancy – What Is The Right Time To Start?

Are you wondering about the relationship that omega 3 and pregnancy share? And what is the right time for you to start having it? Is it before pregnancy, during pregnancy or after pregnancy?
Answer is – the sooner the better and longer the duration you are on omega 3 the healthier it is for you and for your unborn child.

Dosage of omega3 is similar to any other diet where one should maintain the regularity and never exceed the normal limits. Studies have shown that results are much more positive if it is taken regularly over a long period of time. Of all the forms of omega3, DHA is very useful and plays an important role in functional behavior of many of our body organs.

As soon as you get to know the existence of a new life in you – you can start having DHA. Or I would say even before this. This helps you in conceiving too. Once you have conceived it is very important that you maintain the required levels of omega 3 in your body. Fetus is totally dependent on you for all the required nutrients and needs essential fatty acids for the development of brain, eye and nervous system. This required DHA is passed through the placenta to the fetus.

Many females are advised to take omega 3 in their third trimester, as this is the time when brain of fetus develops the most. It has been observed that premature babies have lower levels of DHA. Since they have not gone full term, they get omega 3 benefits for less duration. This is the reason, that omega 3 supplements should not be confined to just third trimester instead should be taken throughout the pregnancy.

A high quality omega 3 and pregnancy is an indomitable blend. You should continue the dosages of DHA after your delivery too, as it keeps both mother and baby healthy.

For the first few months the infant is totally dependent on mother’s milk, it’s all the more important for you to continue your dose of DHA during this period as well. Clinical studies have proved that breast-fed babies have better IQ advantages over babies fed on infant formula without DHA. It also helps the child in better eye hand coordination and fewer sleep disorders. Studies have proved that women who are on rich diet of omega 3 have less chances of breast cancer and post natal depression.

Benefits of DHA do not end here; it does a lot more that what we discussed above to you and your family. Visit my website to know more on the omega 3 and pregnancy where I have described an effective DHA supplement that I and my family take daily.

Why Women Use Diet Pills Despite The Risks

What diet supplements really work?

What supplements are specifically designed for a woman’s weight loss needs?

Many women wanting to lose weight find that diet and exercise alone are not enough to get them the body they desire. As much as some of us may try, these methods sometimes fall short. That’s why women all over the world have started looking into diet pills to help them add the final piece to the weight loss puzzle.

Women over 40 may find it even harder to lose weight because hormonal variations make it easy for fat to accumulate in the body. The answer to overcoming this is to maintain a diet that is low in carbohydrates and low in fat. A healthy diet is important but becomes even more crucial as we age, loading up on vegetables and fruits instead of carbohydrates and fat can aid in weight control.

However, many women try to find easier methods that will give them that extra boost they need to achieve their target weight.Women also tend to have numerous factors that can contribute to weight gain. Stress from work, relationships, children and hormonal changes are just a couple. These outside factors cause women to generally need diet pills that will not be affected by these factors instead of a “one size fits all” type of diet pill.

Due to the fact that there are so many diet pills on the market it can be very confusing to choose which one to buy. There are also many varieties of diet pills, the main catagories are cheap ones and ones that are more expensive, perscription ones and over-the-counter ones, fat burners, appetite suppressents and more. The one similar aspect that holds true to majority of diet pills on the market is that a healthy diet and regular exercise routine is a must for the pills to work. Althought you may lose a couple pounds without applying diet and exercise, you will get much better results if you do. Additionally, many diet pills will give you a boost of energy which can be very helpful in sticking to a regular exercise routine.

How do you do the “Abs Diet” for women?

Question by Corinne B: How do you do the “Abs Diet” for women?
I’m reading the book, “Abs Diet” It seems to be written for men. I’m a woman, 33, I’d like to misplace about 10 lbs, mostly around the central. Will this diet really work for me? Should I conform it for a woman, I opine eat about half of the food proposed?

Best answer:

Answer by Angela
There is a book by the same author called ‘Abs Diet for Women.’ It’s a chromatic book. I purchased it and scan it, but there were just too many guidelines that I got misplaced in it. I like for any diet I do to be easygoing and square. But there is a book just for women if you’d like to seek it

Easy weight loss for teens is certainly possible if the necessary steps are taken.

Many people in all parts of the world have heard about the Atkins Diet. This article gives a brief idea about the Atkins diet plan which involves elimination of all carbohydrates from food.

Studies reveal more than 300000 Americans die every year because of obesity. Presently about 60 percent of adults and 13 percent of children are considered to be overweight or obese. This unhealthy trend has made many people concerned and afraid that they may be or become obese. As a result an increasing number of people are trying quick result weight loss programs that include diet supplements such as diet patches. A diet patch is essentially a weight loss program where the individual is expected to wear a patch usually on the arm until the desired weight loss is achieved. It is aimed at reducing weight in a short span of time. Medical reviews affirm that with every diet patch that is peeled off the body the client will lose excess weight. In general it is a profitable time for marketers of diet patches who make every effort to attract first time users.

There are some wonderful weight loss programs out there for you to choose from. However what should you keep in mind before you decide on one.

The average woman during a healthy pregnancy will gain anywhere from twenty five to thirty five pounds. While to some people this is extremely easy to take off in no time at all others find this truly upsetting because of their fight with weight. Not all women are able to drop the pounds with their eyes shut so it is important for them to figure out a way to drop those pregnancy pounds as quickly as possible.

Patches are the Newest Dieting Tool

The Pink Patch is one of the latest diet fads to hit the market. Targeted towards teenagers and young women, the Pink Patch borrows from the popularity and effectiveness of smoking cessation and birth control patches and uses it as the next big idea in weight loss. The patch, which includes a variety of supplements, is slapped on the skin once a day. The ingredients in the Pink Patch are absorbed into the skin and are time released throughout the day. It is intended to help you lose those last five pesky pounds. It’s not intended to be used as a long-term diet. You can expect to lose about 1 – 3 pounds per week with immediate results of reduced hunger showing up after about two days of wearing the patch.

The Pink Patch is produced by Curb Your Cravings, the company first responsible for the introduction of the Hoodia Patch.

The Pink Patch is to be applied to your skin in the morning and left on throughout the entire day. You are encouraged to drink a lot of water, avoid alcohol and limit caffeine to only one cup per day while you are wearing the Pink Patch, since it contains Yerba Mate, which acts as a stimulant.

The magic ingredient contained in the Pink Patch is a type of seaweed called Fucus Vesiculosus. This particular kind of seaweed has been used in some cultures for more than a hundred years to reduce weight and increase energy and metabolism. One study showed that women who regularly consume this seaweed have lower rates of breast and ovarian cancer compared to women who don’t consume it. A big win for women’s health. The Pink Patch also contains Yerba Mate, which is a South American energy-booster, and lecithin, which is an emulsifier. Lecithin that is soy-derived helps to lower cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing the HDL cholesterol or the “good” cholesterol. The patch also contains flax seed oil, which is a source of essential fatty acids.

While taking the Pink Patch, you are supposed to eat a healthy and balanced diet and maintain a consistent exercise program as these two factors are intended to support the weight loss effects of the product.

A one-month supply of the Pink Patch costs $49.95. There is also a one-week free trial offer as well which is available through the product’s website. Read the terms carefully as these often have auto-shipment and billing programs attached.

Also, it is a dietary supplement that has not been approved or evaluated by the FDA, therefore its effectiveness and safety cannot be validated. Moreover, since this product is targeted specifically to young women, it promotes the pressure for women to be skinny by doing whatever they can to achieve their perfect body even if that means taking a product that is unregulated and potentially harmful. Girls are highly encouraged to consult with a medical doctor before taking it.

Jim Mackey is a renowned dietician. He has been advising people on how to maintain a proper diet and how to lose those extra calories. If you want to know more about Pink patch,Duke Diet, weight lose, south beach diet, diabetic diet, diet plans you can visit www.dietsinreview.com

How the 7 Day Detox Diet Can Help Reduce Signs of Aging

There are more than enough means to protect your health as well as a natural detox. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, exercising and listening to a doctor are fine examples. But have you considered what may be pro-habiting in your system, eliminating all your determined work?

The best way of getting rid of these unwanted, unnatural toxins from your system is referred to as detoxing. Commonly called “a total body detox,” many complementary health consultants strongly recommend the method. Even so they recommend that a body detox should be performed slowly and with care. The traditional doctors however advise that detoxing your body should be done with a serious squeeze of salt.

Before you start the detoxification process, check with your doctor, as particular types of people may have an adverse reaction, and pregnant and nursing women are recommended to refrain from detoxing. Since a detox diet and its elements don’t make claims that they can overcome health issues, they are not influenced by the FDA and there is no scientific evidence of the effectiveness.

But doing a detox is abuzz and if you’re wanting to immerse yourself in the trend, here’s an insight into this alternative system.

How long you follow your detox diet for varies. If done correctly and regularly, a healthy detox can eliminate toxic chemicals, residues and manmade chemicals from your system. You could have heard about the book called “The Fast Track One-Day Detox Diet” by Ann Louise Gittleman. In her book, Gittleman walks readers through an 11 day body detox, during which they feed on certain foods for one week proceeded by a one-day fast, followed by the re-introduction of particular foods.

During the fast, detoxers can drink Gittleman’s ambrosian, spiced wonder juice fashioned to ward off hunger pangs, promote metabolism, control blood sugar and eliminate toxins out of your body. The drink contains cranberry, lemon and orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.

We weren’t subjected to these matters 100 years ago. Before the industrial revolution there were far fewer man made chemicals. Everyone is exposed to toxins in skin products like soap and makeup or even your drinking and shower water. The strength of a healthy detox to get rid off these toxins can be hard to trace.

The toxins get stored in our system and they can cause weight gain, increase aging and cause sluggishness, chest problems and skin allergies. The main components in virtually all detox supplements are milk thistle and dandelion root, which help clean and revitalize the liver.

Each time you go on a detox diet your liver gets a spring clean. This action also gives all your other organs a boost. They have a reduced workload to process all the junk that are getting in your system.

Most practitioners advocate a raw veggies and fruit detox diet for about seven days, supported with vitamin and mineral supplements and detox drinks. By giving your body basic foods that are easy to digest, your body can concentrate on eliminating the excess toxins. It can take several hours to digest a a junk food meal, but most raw fruits and vegetables lakes less than 30 minutes to digest.

The raw fruits and vegetable detox diet program is a 7 day detox diet that focuses on “liver supporting” and “colon-loving” foods. There are numerous books and detox products available on the subject that will include instructions, diet guidelines and pills.

Natural detoxification is a good thing but you should be ready and committed to seeing it through. Toxins in your body accumulate over time, meaning the regular detoxing is very important.

The sooner you do a detox, the healthier you’re going to be long term. The side effects of doing a detox might include withdrawal headaches (if you’re used to caffeine drinks of any sort), skin rashes and exhaustion. You’re releasing the toxins that have been stacked away and they’re entering your system. You never fully appreciate how your body is going to react.

Your feet are a very important part of your anatomy, especially for helping to eliminate toxins from your body. Using foot detox patches on a regular basis, as well as relaxing foot baths and detox patches can play an important role in natural detoxification, and are also a great way of pampering yourself.
